David Lee Jaynes

November 2, 1943 — September 24, 2016

David Lee Jaynes, 72, lifelong native of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on September 24, 2016. He was a United States Navy veteran that had proudly served his country aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid. David retired from Phillip Morris in Louisville and was a member of the VFW Post 3281 in New Albany. He was an avid reader and a huge UK basketball fan.

He was born on November 2, 1943, to the late George and Lorena (Killian) Jaynes. David was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. David is survived by his wife, Pattie Jo (Boorse) Jaynes; sons, Michael (Pam), Jason, and Joshua (Heather) Jaynes; sisters, Pat Stansbury (Jim), Jean Henriott, Renee Richards (Jerry), and Cathy Robinson (Jim); and grandchildren, Chris and Peyton.

Cremation was chosen following David's wishes. A reception of family and friends will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150).

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions in David's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association (6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville, Kentucky 40205) or to Hosparus – the Community Hospice of Southern Indiana (502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150).
