Bill Shafer, 89, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on July 30, 2016. He retired from General Electric and was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He loved history especially the Civil War. He was a Naval Veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Bill was born on February 9, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Virgil and Emma (Swintner) Shafer. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack and sister, Betty.
Bill is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Jacqueline Barbara (Klinge) Shafer; children, Holly Bezold and James K. Shafer; grandchildren, Grace, Blake, and Joshua; sister, Judy Frank; and a host of relatives and friends.
His Mass will be held Wednesday at 1:00 pm at St. Aloysius Catholic Chapel (212 Mount Mercy Drive, Pewee Valley, KY 40056) with burial to follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
