James Edward Barton

James Edward Barton, 86, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from Kingsford. Jim enjoyed fishing, being out in nature and he truly was the patriarch of his family.
He was born on April 15, 1930 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Wade Barton, Sr. and Dorothy (Haendiges) Patton. Jim was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Van Patton; and siblings, George Barton, Wade Barton, Jr., Dorothy Dale, and Juanita Lawhorn.
Jim was survived by his wife of 62 years, Carole (Stewart) Barton; sons, Edward Barton, James B. Barton; grandsons, Randal, Joshua, Christopher Barton; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM on Friday, June 10, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 9 AM. His Funeral Service will be at 11 AM Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to Marengo Christian Church (470 South Cedar Street, Marengo, IN 47140).
