Cynthia Marie Brown Matthews

Cynthia Marie Brown Matthews, age 55, of Louisville KY, departed this life on Friday May 13, 2016 at 4:30 am at University Hospital.

Cynthia was the 8th child born to the late James R. Brown and the late Laura Russell Brown. She was also preceded in death by her Great Grand Father Henry Brown, Great Grand Mother Jamie Stith Brown, Grandfather's William H. Brown & Eugene Russell, Grandmother's Kathryn Brown, and Laura Brown Russell, and her brother Norman Brown.

She graduated from Waggener Wagner High School in 1978 and attended Kentucky State University (KSU). Cynthia worked various jobs throughout her life time. Cynthia worked as a receptionist at WLOU radio station, various Customer Relations positions, Buck Horn of Louisville, and later became the proud owner of Cinderella Day Care on Madison St. in Louisville, KY. Cynthia retired early due to her illness.

Cynthia leaves to cherish her memories to her Husband, best friend, and companion for 42 years and married for 29 of the 42 years, Gregory E. Matthews, their daughter Danielle N. Matthews, siblings Loretta Brown (Tommy), Yolanda Brown Hayden, James R. Brown Jr. (Brenda), Teri A. Brown Hazard (Don), Ronald I. Brown, Stephen A. Brown, and David L. Brown, 1 aunt Barbara Smith, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, brother in law Wendell L. Matthews, Lee A. Matthews (Terri), and Kim Matthews.

Cynthia received Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. William Summers of St. Paul AME. She became a member of First Virginia Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Charles H. Duncan Sr. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards, hosting get together's and bible study. Cynthia had a deep passion for and loved children. Cynthia was always pleasant to be around, had an amazing sense of humor, and always kept a smile on her face regardless of how she was feeling.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Paul AME Church (1518 South 28th Street, Louisville, KY 40211), with her funeral service to start at 12 noon at church. Burial will be held at Green Meadows Cemetery.
