Charles Calvin Murrell, Sr., 64, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, in New Albany, Indiana.
Charles was born on January 7, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Calvin and Birdie (Haymon) Murrell. He was a Marine veteran and a member at Newburg Apostolic Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Charles enjoyed teaching martial arts and held an 8th degree black belt.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Birdie (Haymon) Murrell. He is survived by his loving children, Charles Murrell, Jr., Kahliala Murrell, Trenton Davis, and Alyvia Murrell; friend, Tonya Davis, former spouse, Guzetta Murrell; siblings, Patricia Jones (Malcolm), Linda Taylor (Gregg), Karen Murrell, Larry Murrell, Sr., Kerry Murrell (Janet), Sharon Jones (Neal); 7 grandchildren, Kahlysia, Asianna, Jadyn, Malikhi, Kobe, Carmello, and Brooklyn; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His service will be on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation before from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Newburg Apostolic Church (4817 East Indian Trail, Louisville, Kentucky 40218) with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
